Ana Ivanovic and Maria Kirilenko attracted quite a crowd during their joint practice session at Indian Wells on Wednesday afternoon. We took a few snaps of this photogenic duo for your viewing enjoyment.
Eyewitness report: It was windy enough out there to make the local weather report today, so I’m not going to get on Ana about her ball toss. But the toss wasn’t great and the photo above captures her attitude – not a happy camper.
I counted four coaches on this practice court – Ana’s new guy, Heinz Gunthardt, someone with Maria who I can’t ID and sitting way back in the farthest, darkest corner: Sven Groeneveld and Darren Cahill from the adidas Player Development Program. I’m assuming they’re with Maria. Or are they with Ana? Or did the adidas execs call a meeting with them to say “These two women are much too marketable (hot) to be ranked outside the top 10! Make it work like Chrissie and Martina, guys. . .or else!”
The hard-working Maria K. practiced with Nadia Petrova earlier in the day. The photos of her in salmon pink are from that session.

Yup, that definitely won’t make things easier for poor Ana and that ball toss. She’s supposed to be working with Steffi Graff’s former coach. I wonder just how far he’ll get with helping her sort that out.

The weather is awesome right now! It can be deadly hot (Death Valley and all that) but it’s not going much about 79 here in the desert. Perfect for both the players and the fans, and the wind is meant to die down.
