Go Stan! Everyone’s favorite “second Swiss,” Stanislas Wawrinka was married last week to his longtime girlfriend, the 34-year-old television presenter Ilham Vuilloud. The ceremony was held at the Lausanne Palace Hotel in Switzerland. If you can’t tell from the photos, Vuilloud is about seven months pregnant.
Does anyone else think that she looks a little like Jelena Jankovic in the above photo?
She looks great – he needs a shave and a button replaced. Make an effort, Stan!

The ceremony was small – just about 20 guests – with a big party planned for later. Here’s the scoop from swissinfo.ch:
The private civil ceremony took place on December 12, Vuilloud – herself a television presenter – told a local television programme on Monday.
“We shall celebrate our union in a church ceremony with lots of guests when our child (due in February) is able to carry our rings,” she said.
Wawrinka is 24 years old, and his new wife is 11 years older. He currently stands 21st in the ATP world tennis rankings.
Switzerland’s number one tennis star, Roger Federer, married his partner Mirka in April. She gave birth to twin girls in July.
Blick.ch wants to fan the flames a little bit: “Roger Federer was probably not there, because Stan wasn’t invited to his marriage to Mirka, either. ‘I learned about it only from the newspaper,’ said a slightly disappointed Wawrinka at the time.”

Whatever, Stan and Roger shared their own special ceremony at the Beijing Olympics last year.
I’d take a gold medal over a wedding invite, any day.

But it begs the question:In Switzerland you don’t tie the knot until the bride is really, really showing? I’ve wondered if Mirka got, um, Fed up with Roger not handing her a ring and decided to make him commit.

I can’t think of any good reason why RF did not invite his good friend tho his wedding.
I think that RF will remember with more love and affection the time when he and SW were together in a ceremony, that is the gold medal in doubles, much more than his wedding. At least I would.

Maybe Roger and Mirka will go to the big party. Twenty guests is barely enough room for family.

Roger only had 39 people at his wedding; once you take away for family, there’s not much room for friends. I think he only had 3 or 4 close childhood friends there.

i don’t know if i’ve ever seen stan clean shaven. he probably could have borrowed some gilette razors from rog, but then he wasn’t there. ha!
love those olympics pics. they’re practically skipping with joy in the last one. i remember thinking, rog, what the hell are you doing? why is stan on fire? then i read something about their jokes when playing cards, that they have to cool off someone who has a hot hand. i mean, if you have this kind of random thing with your pal, wouldn’t you go to each other’s weddings? guess they were both small events. at least you know they probably wish each other the best in life.
