It’s the last big event of the tennis season! Spain seeks to defend the Davis Cup this weekend against the Czech Republic. The final will be played on indoor red clay at the Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona.
This weekend’s teams are as follows: Rafael Nadal, Fernando Verdasco, David Ferrer and Feliciano Lopez for Spain and Radek Stepanek, Tomas Berdych, Jan Hajek and Lukas Dlouhy for the Czech Republic. Like GTT reader, Lisa M., I’m missing Juan Carlos Ferrero.

THANKS.
Do we know why Juan Carlos Ferrero wasn’t chosen to part of team? He’s higher ranked than Feli Lopez and he filled in ably at the last tie.
Isn’t he an alternate this year?
Juanqui doesn’t play doubles, or at least not as well as Feli, and that’s what they need the fourth player for; that’s why Lopez is always on the team. Costa was picking between Juanqui and Ferru, not Juanqui and Feli. (and Ferrero is an alternate, so he’s still there practicing with them.)
Red team all the way. Love Ferru hair in the pic above. JCF should be fine — look at the comforting hug he’s got!
What about Robredo? Isn’t he the only one that hasn’t been injured lately? He has been playing pretty well too hasn’t he?
Being of Czech descent, I have to go for the Blue team. Besides, Spain already has the looks and the rankings — let the Czech boys get Davis Cup glory!
