  1. JFK says:

Thanks for the schedule. I’m so glad NBC never has the rights to the US Open series. Even though they wouldn’t have to worry about the time difference, NBC would find a way to screw it up.

  2. Mim says:

Is ESPN or the Tennis Channel apart of the Orbit satellite package? Me would like to know. :)

  3. GoMaria says:

Why do I even bother subscribing to Tennis Channel? I always asked myself this question. The week after wimbledon I did not see any WTA weekly matches. Then this week the Tennis Channel did not show any ATP or WTA games.

The question I also asked was that why can’t they show early matches – the Tennis channel doesn’t show any of them unless the tournament is a master series.

This is just not right. Show us tennis, Tennis Channel! From Monday to Sunday.

I am seriously thinking of subscribing to the Tennis only from April to September. (the clay court season, and FO and Wimbledon and US O). Darn, I forgot they carry AO too in late January.

I hate Tennis Channel (right after Fox Sport Network).

  4. Mim says:

Gosh GoMaria that sounds like terrible coverage. If the TENNIS channel isn’t broadcasting TENNIS….then…what ARE they showing?

*scratches chin* I haven’t subscribed to the Tennis Channel yet, but I am considering probably getting Orbit. I’ve heard a lot of venomous comments directed at Fox Sports and NBC by tennis fans, but how about ESPN’s coverage? At this point I’m all confused about the packages. I wish there was a channel that covered tennis religiously. And I mean ALL tennis, everything from men’s to womens, to boys/girls, to wheels chairs, Davis Cup, exhibitions, WTT, doubles, mixed doubles…EVERYTHING! And all the commercials have to be “point of the day” type commercials. All fillers have to be “game of the week” or “match of the month”..so that we’ll all literally bleed tennis balls and spew tennis nets.

So far, it seems, that there are a lot of pathetic attempts at covering and showing genuine interest in tennis. *stamps foot* This world is insane!

Personally, I prefer to get my tennis coverage from Al Jazeera Sports Channel. But I would love to have more variety….go figure.

Oh, btw, thanks alot FreakyFrites for taking the time to post the schedule. :-)

  5. Izzie says:

    thanks!

I’ll be there! Box seats :D Hopefully I’ll have some good pictures.

Also, I’m excited for Bank of the West Classic aka Stanford.

  6. Thanks for the television schedule. Looking forward to the US Open!

  7. Yer welcome guys! Pretty happy too that ESPN and Tennis Channel have these tournies covered.

  8. Jon says:

Mixed feelings about espn coverage. Yes, it’s better than nothing, but, tell me, do any tennis fans really enjoy that annoying “DUFUS TICKER” taking up the bottom of the screen? After enough complaints, ESPN removed it some of the time during Wimbledon, but, lucky us, it’s baaaak.

Biggest disappointment to me, that ESPN will be doing the US OPEN coverage rather than the USA Network. I can only hope that the USTA made “DUFUS TICKER”-free coverage a
requirement of the US Open contract.

  9. Pat mcLaughlin says:

Agree Tennis Channel is really letting its subscribers down. And don’t they know we want the tennis and to know, in advance, the schedules, early rounds and all? As for Espn, that ticker can drive me wild but so can some of the commentators on both channels who yak, yak, yak while play is in motion. Just shut up!!! Johnny Mac is the best commentator in my mind on the men’s side and Mary Carillo on the women’s. As for the rest of you, we don’t care how much you want to reminisce or show how much you know (get it Tracy Austin? for eg?). We just want to enjoy a match in silence. At least I do. Thanks for the schedules here! Makes my recording a lot easier.

  10. backhand says:

I'm a 72 year old avid tennis fan, this comment is for anyone that can make this happen. Maybe a clothes or shoe sponsor or anyone who wants to see tennis get attention. Please, for the love of using a brain I am disgusted watching players for one and two weeks wearing the same FUNKY outfits take a page from golf a boring sport the players bring a little life to the game by changing outfits every day, clothe$ and $hoe $ponsor$ love it. Please JUST DO IT!!
