Roger Federer was honored in his childhood home on Thursday, receiving the “Ehrespalebärglemer” award. The award is given to well-known Basel personalities who represent “special qualities in their fields.” The brass plaques line Basel’s sidewalks, forming the Swiss city’s own “Walk of Fame.” Roger was to be celebrated last year, but scheduling conflicts pushed it back.
About 300 fans attended the ceremony, receiving greetings and autographs from Federer. I must say, Roger can pull off a cream colored suit like no other. Lovely!

Roger could wear a sack and make it look good.
Of course it would be a white linen sack designed by Prada
I just love how Roger’s not afraid of a suit!
Wow. I wish I could have gone. Does anyone know if Mirka was there? And I agree, Roger really does know how to rock a suit.
I read somewhere that Mirka was not in attendance. I guess she’s like “I made it through Wimbledon, now I’m sitting on the couch, thank you very much!”
Awww..nice to see Roger looking so happy and comfy with his fans.!
He is just sooooo relaxed right now. I bet if I met him on the street he’d agree to have a beer with me!
Not that I’ve been planning for that day, or anything. . .
He’s updated his facebook (god help us all if he ever gets twitter) apparently lots of members of his fan club were there(he’s got a fan club?). Am I the only person who finds some of his fans kinda scary, in that I wouldn’t like to go anywhere near him just in case I bumped into them and also perhaps more importantly I might get arrested if I was anywhere near him. Quite content to lust from afar.
Hola exsamprasfan!
Yeah, once I got mowed over by a crazed Federer fan while in line to get upgraded tickets at the US Open. Of course she got the upgrade and all I got was a bruise. Really pissed me off, though!
Of course most of us Fed fans are much better behaved (I hope!)
