Monica Seles was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame on Saturday in Newport, Rhode Island. Also inducted were Andres Gimeno, the oldest man to ever win the French Open at age 34 years, 10 months (inducted by Stan Smith), Donald Dell (in the contributor category for his work promoting tennis) and Dr. Robert Johnson, inducted posthumously by Jeanne Ashe for his work desegregating the sport (click here to read more on Dr. Johnson.)

Seles is not going to win any awards for public speaking, but it’s interesting to hear her tell the story of her tennis life. I felt a little sad, thinking about how much more she could have accomplished if her career hadn’t been interrupted for over two years.
