First of all thanks to a friendly GTT reader/Fed Fanatic for helping me “curate” these Roger Federer Wimbledon videos. There were so many I didn’t know where to start! Here are some of the best so far.
*UPDATED* The videos just keep coming. I’ll try to update this post for the next day or so, otherwise I’ll have a homepage full of Roger Federer vids (I know some of you are asking “And what’s wrong with that?)
Okay, not a video but a great interview with Roger via ESPN radio – he even talks about the 15 jacket! Click here.
Roger’s Facebook videos make me think of another Roger – Mr. Rogers. Especially with the zip up jacket – it could almost be a cardigan (ack, memories of 2008!) Here you go kiddos:
I read somewhere that before the Champions Dinner, Roger Federer did interviews with over 24 television stations. Pretty sure this was one of those interviews. I think it’s really cool to hear that Roger never doubted that Pete would make the trip:
So happy that ESPN posted this on their site (before I had a crappy quality version.) This might be my favorite Fed Video of all time. ALMOST MADE ME CRY. ESPN’s Rick Reilly writes a letter to BabyFed. (Thanks to “Auburngirl” for the heads up.)
A really nice 7 minute long interview from Monday with CNN. Roger talks about how he’s looking forward to the changes that BabyFed will bring as well as spending the next 3 – 5 weeks at home in Switzerland. Thanks to “whynotme” for sharing!
Here’s Tiger Woods on what he admires in Roger. Interesting and kind of cool that the two guys talk or text everyday. Guess it isn’t just a Nike friendship, after all:
Here’s Mats “Wilanders” Wilander talking in depth about Roger and his place in history. Catch that comment about Roger being “bigger”?
ESPN’s post match interview with Roger Federer where he talks about his “amazing summer,” being a “young 28,” and possibly playing Nadal at the US Open:
Federer’s achievements from a Champion’s perspective. Great comments by Laver, Sampras and Navratilova:
Pete Sampras elaborates on his return to Wimbledon and watching Federer break his record. Can’t believe he’s flying across the world twice in two days. Live a little, Pete!:
The big ATP tribute video to No. 15. “Roger Federer really is the power and the glory in men’s tennis.” Oh YES! Pure Fedophile porn.
Match highlights, of course:
Click here for the trophy ceremony (the BBC’s nabbed it from youtube.)
Some of Federer’s comments in his post-match presser, with a focus on the “cruel” side of the sport:
But victory must be sweet for Roger right now! And the tennis world a very happy place.
Enjoy the glow, Fed Fans!

What a beautiful letter from Rick Reilly, wish Roger would see it.
Yeah, it was really well done. Loved it loved it loved it in all it’s gushy glory.
Wow thank you for all those great vids and especially the Rick Reilly one !!
In my mind, THIS is the best (at least most interesting) he gave so far : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EntQgH3hO98
Thanks whynotme! It was really great. It always surprises me how much Roger seems to enjoy these interviews – lucky for us. And I love the comments about the positive changes Baby Fed will bring to his schedule. You’ll see I posted it above.
Yeah that’s right we’re lucky he’s that much outspoken ! I’s nice you posted it, along with all the new ones you found (love the Tiger itw, I really didn’t think they texted each other EVERY day !). I’m definitely loving this, it’s like a huge memorial post for the 15th, hope there’s a lot more ideos to come
Yeah, I think it’s nice to put all the videos in one place – convenient, too! We already have 10 good ones – thanks to you and other Fed Fans for your assistance!
OMG it’s not an video but still an interview from today : http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/tennis/federer-maybe-i-can-relax-a-bit-now-enjoy-the-game-1734455.html
They gave him the NET !! I can’t believe it ! I’m trying to imagine it hanging against a wall or stretched across a room : LOL !
Awesome stuff! Thanks for posting. I was going to say “where does Roger find the time for all these interviews?” And then I read that he only got 2 hours of sleep last night! I guess that’s the secret
Oooh thanks for the Fedporn FF.
That letter was so touching… *tears* looking at all these videos is making me feel nostalgic, but it’s okay. Sometimes you need to take a moment to appreciate and savour each milestone. More so these days than before. But LOL @ “he looked like a page out of an A&F catalogue”. Touche
and the ATP used Sigur Ros for Federer? I wonder who’s idea was that first?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnH-ns4g_Ds
LOL Captcha says: Mr Wertheim?
Wow, very cool video, Dootsiez! I didn’t realize how much you do in terms of a/v. Are you going to make something for the big 1-5? Please let us know!
And yes, obviously ATP totally copied you1
OMG, that letter to BabyFed made me cry! So touching!!
Yeah, it’s the BEST! Loved it. Think it’s up there in my top five ever Federer videos. Wonder if Baby Fed will every watch it?
The ATP tribute is quite beautiful, the song (i think is Sigur Ros) is very uplifting, Roger is an example of life, i think he is the only athlete that i truly admire as a person, a player and looked up as a role model…
Fantastic job FF!
Thanks, Henry! As always, glad to have you visiting and commenting.
thank you thank you THANK YOU! love these videos!!! One more from the BBC…. (not sure if you can see if outside of the UK though) … the ‘morning after’ interview:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/tennis/8136192.stm
I couldn’t view the video (wonder why it’s UK only – some strange contract that tennis fans will never understand!) BUT the interview attached was very interesting. I liked what Roger had to say about keeping his celebrations muted and understanding what Andy was going through and learning from Rafa’s own behavior last year. Good stuff and thanks for posting.
Are you sad, LLKR? No more Wimby!
hello freakyfrites the BBC does do funny things! but the interview pretty much is a transcript of the video.
Not sure about other Fed fans, I am a bit lost after Wimby but at the same time kinda glad I can FINALLY get my life back after Madrid, RG, and Wimby! I can do with 2 months without heart attacks ****too many of them during the French*** And man, i can REALLY do without the Murraymania the UK press is sooo good at doing.
Am I suffering from withdrawal symptoms? heck, I’m watching the finals replay on BBC so……! And I am rethinking my take that I think Roger was not playing that well… OK, it’s not as sharp as some of his other matches in the Championships but still very late in the 5th set he was still hitting forehands left right centre!
That Rick Reilly video made me tear up, and my mum and and my grandmum. It was really beautiful and moving. The best vid so far!
So cool you got to share it with your family
roger u r a true champion
Hey GTT, thanks for the great round up! I love the letter to Baby Fed, it’s just beautiful.
I don’t know if this fits in here, but here’s a good vid of Roger speaking with the champions from about 6 min onwards. There’s no commentary so you can pretty much catch what they’re saying.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e4-xTKCpbus&feature=related
Thanks Eve! Unfortunately I can’t watch the video in the States “due to copyright reasons” it says. But I hope others can enjoy it!
Hi freakyfrites!
Can you help me with some lines of Rick Reilly’s essay?
1. 0:21 He looked like ? (I can’t get that sentence)
2. 0:34 like a Ferrari not a ?
3. 0:47 dominated this sport the way ? dominate trees
4. 1:26 he’d been passed by younger ?
5. 1:42 trophies will become ?
Thanks a lot! I just love this and try to translate it into Chineseļ¼
1. a page out of a Abercrombie & Fitch catalog.
2. forklift
3. an avalanche
4. bulkier models
5. teething rings
hope this helps!
Thank you soooo much !!!
