I think that Roger looks FAB and it lovely that he makes such a effort in his outfits he wears each year at Wimbledon. I think people should give him a little more praise for making Wimbledon so special and talking about special I think that Roger is a very special person. He is a lovely person and in my opinion I have never in all the years I have been watching Wimbledon have I seen such a lovely, pleasure to watch tennis player and I have been watching Wimbledon for 35 years so that is saying something. He is going to be a father soon and will make a wonderful father and is probably a wonderful husband. Good on you Roger and hope you WIN the trophy.

Again I love the outfit, however just today I got a good look at the pants for the first time, and I’m really not crazy about them. He should have just skipped the pants altogether and just stuck with the shorts. But I guess I’m one of the few people that actually loves everything else. I think it suits him.

Bodo doesn’t have a nice topic to doodle upon at the Wimbledon Opening hence he picked on his favorite topic, which is Roger.It doesn’t take a genius to figure out Bodo since we all know that he has a fickleminded nature.He must have had a sore tooth r he woke up at the wrong side of the bed when he dedicated his entire post to Roger’s outfit which i think is very pathetic.No matter how many times this so called know it all sportswriters take turns in bashing Roger wether in how he dressed or how he plays and what nots, there’s always this line seperating them and Roger and that is they will always be the one looking up and scramble after him and Roger will always be the one looking down upon them atop his perch of superstardom.

Yeah, I saw the Sprezzatura post after the French Open which almost made me forgive Bodo all his past non-tennis critiques of Roger. It’s not even that I mind Bodo making a remark about the outfit, it’s just that I think a whole post on the topic is even more overkill than he, I or anyone else might think the outfit is. And he went out of his way to really rip into Roger; it was pretty cruel, I thought.

How about a post on the fact that Roger is a supremely successful athlete who has a perfectly normal life? The man has a steady relationship, a baby on the way, a great family, conducts himself with class and is STILL winning major titles. I can’t think of any other athlete about whom you can say that. Success usually goes right to the head. He can wear whatever the heck he darn well pleases; I don’t have to like it.

I’ll spend some time making harmless remarks about it, but when Bodo or any pro sportswriter devotes an entire post to it, that’s just not right, in my humble opinion. He’s supposed to be a professional sportwriter for crying out loud. Would he write a piece like this for a mag? I doubt it; None of his peers would take him seriously after that. But he’ll throw it up on his blog because it’s easy pickings.

Okay, end of rant. Bodo has annoyed me many times before and I don’t expect that this will be the last time.

Hello, Alista!

As much as I agree with you, there is not much we can do about it. Although, I find nothing wrong or disturbing with Federer’s outfit, I am sure you have your own opinion as everyone else does as well; to the extent, that I am pretty sure every Wimbledon 2009/Roger Federer’s Opening Round doesn’t fail to criticize his outfit (mostly negative). Federer’s “controversial” outfit is mentioned everywhere, which is annoying.

…Regarding Peter Bodo, he has “admitted” to “characterizing Federer as a girly-man” in his article “Sprezzatura,” which is all about Federer after winning the French Open:

OK, Bodo just tore up Roger on Tennis.com. So now, I’m hot under the collar and I feel honour bound to defend this costume. Did he really have to dedicate a whole post to rip Roger’s clothes? He’s a professional sportswriter … he can leave that sort of thing to the likes of us, don’t you think?
