A quick detour onto grass while we wait for the Roland Garros draw to come out later today. (You can catch it live, at 11:30am, Paris time, at rolandgarros.com (anyone else relieved to be done with that awful Madrid Masters website?)
The following video is an ode to Rafael Nadal disguised as a promotional video for Queen’s Club, the pre-Wimbledon grass court tournament in London. Coach Larry Stefanki is the highlight, although Andy Roddick and Lleyton Hewitt are featured, too:
I never thought of Stefanki as the kind of person who describes the vaginal canal as a “shooter,” but heck, I learn something new everyday. Also, love how Roddick gets his Roger reference in – I’m starting to think we have a late-blooming Fedophile on our hands. Wonder if coach and pupil have an ongoing Rafa vs. Roger debate they hash out on international flights.
Gilles Simon will also be playing Queen’s Club and did an interview for the tournament. He shares his own theory on why his play is so up and down. Love his confidence when it comes to beating the top guys:
Now back to the clay. . . I’m twiddling my thumbs until that draw comes out. Dying to see which side Djokovic is on.

thought this was the latest post so post the latest news.
just seen the draw . as far as is my information, Murray falls in Nadal half. Djokovic is in Federer’s half.
Nadal’s half contains some top seed players such as Verdasco,Simon.
Federer half has roddick etc and couple of other good clay players whom i have not probably been able to study as i have had only one glimpse at the draw.
surely this is going to make things more interesting at RG!
I only saw it quickly as well. I saw that Djokovic has Del Potro potentially in the quarters, and Roger has Roddick. Maybe if Del Potro can take out Djokovic, then Roger has a pretty good path to the final. (Can you tell I’m worried about a Djoker/Roger semi?)
Liz ,don’t be worried about a Roger Nole semi!! I want Roger to get revenge for Rome and Miami. It’ll be great. Although, I’m so mad about Roddick on Rogers side!!
jfk, you’re a true fan! You’re right, Roger has the confidence from Madrid to beat Djokovic. I actually think Rafa has some tough potential matches on his side — more of the clay court specialists, maybe.
Are you worried about Roddick for his sake or Roger’s sake? : )

There is nothing better than hearing those words right out of the horse’s mouth…so to speak.
The look in Lleyton Hewitt’s eyes says it all. Someone as competitive and as hardcore as Hewitt knows just what it is we are witnessing.
As for Stefanki, what a nut! I love his passion and his exuberance when he’s discussing Rafa. Very wacky comments, but very true!
Loved the part when Stefanki says “his foot speed for his size is phenomenal..” and you see Rafa taking these quick little adjustment steps and then rip the forehand (1:23 in the video). His feet temporarily turn into a blur
One word that sums Rafa up: HEART.
