Roger Federer found time to participate in a sponsor event for Emmi, “Switzerland’s leading milk processor,” in Switzerland on Sunday before taking off for Madrid. The video from Schweizer Fernsehen (not in English) shows Roger Federer and motocyclist Tom Luthi playing golf and schmoozing with guests, including Roger’s parents. Supposedly Roger mentions that he’s decided not to wear a wedding ring during his career because it could effect his play – better to wait until he’s retired and doesn’t have to worry about losing it. . .I’m sure Mirka doesn’t mind!
If anyone can provide some more translation, I’d appreciate it!

“The guests were all invited by Emmi and enjoyed a perfectly sunny day amidst beautiful spring meadows. They started off in the morning with a round of golf before having appetisers on a terrace with a view of the lake of Sempach and the snow-capped Alps on the horizon. André Bossert, Switzerland’s best golfer, demonstrated his skills and gave the interested crowd a few tips. And then everyone was in for a surprise: two of Emmi’s ambassadors, Roger and Tom Lüthi (motorcycling), joined the happening. They showed their golfing skills in several chipping competitions that André Bossert set up for them. Roger thrilled everyone with skilful shots and amusing comments.
The day was rounded off with a dinner at the club’s restaurant where Roger and all the guests enjoyed a wonderful meal, of course including Emmis Kaltbach cheese specialities. Roger thoroughly enjoyed the evening and is now on his way to Madrid.”
I always love seeing the Federer family out and about. Roger’s parents are the perfect guests. I don’t think Mirka was there – the website mentions she was home happily expecting a baby. Tony Godsick, Roger’s agent, can be seen doing Blackberry duty in the background.

Does poor Tony ever get to spend time at home? It’s so odd that he travels to every single bloody event, no matter how trivial.
He said that Mirka is fine, but stayed at home to relax a bit. Everything is going well. A super pregnancy. They have a lot to think about. They got many presents for the baby already. Baby clothes. The closet is getting full. The grandparents are looking forward. They will see what happens and they have to grow into the role, said Roger’s dad.
Roger was asked, who played better golf. Roger said, he believes that he played better, because he already had played it a few times. For Lüthi it was the first time, that he played golf. He did well, said Roger.

I had the same thought re: Tony. One day Mary-Joe’s going to be commentating a Federer match and it will all come out – “There’s my husband sitting next to his REAL family in the player’s box!”
But I’m sure he’s making so much money that it seems like a small, temporary inconvenience – maybe he’ll retire the same time Roger does!

Hola jfk – you are right, he’s not wearing one. I guess he says on the video that he won’t until he stops playing professionally. He’s worried it will mess with his game.
