Swiss media outlet Schweizer Fernsehen grabbed the Roger Federer wedding photos from Schweizer Illustrierte magazine and put them together in this handy slide show for us. (I suggest you FULL SCREEN the video above so you can see it better.)
Here’s the scoop from the SF website I translated for you, click here for the original):
Stylish and elegant, tennis ace Roger Federer and Mirka Vavrinec were married at Easter at the registry office in Basle. The first pictures of the wedding of the year show the couple in love and intimacy. And: The Federer-baby is a boy.
Mirka wore an enchanted empire dress by Oscar de la Renta to cleverly hide her baby bump, as shown in the exclusive pictures in “Schweizer Illustrierte.“
The dress was tuned perfectly to her wedding ring which her goldsmith father made. Roger wore a classic three-piece suit by Tom Ford.
There were 39 guests at the wedding party, held at the Villa Wenkenhof in Riehen (click here to see it) and there was a very Swiss dish on the menu - Zurich Gschnetzeltes (a hearty stew). The wedding party celebrated until after midnight.
“Schweizer Illustrierte” betrayed another secret of the Federer couple: Roger and Mirka’s baby is a boy. The due date is in August. (We knew that already, right fans!?)
Fee goes to Foundation
“Schweizer Illustrierte” is the first magazine that published photos of the wedding. “We’ve had for many years, a trusting relationship with the 13-time Grand Slam winner and his family,” writes SI Nik Niethammer, editor-in-chief of the current issue.
The fee for the pictures was paid to the Roger Federer Foundation at the request of the bride and groom. This supports athletically talented, but financially poor children. In Africa, the foundation also supports projects of local relief organizations.
The photographers weren’t allowed into the actual ceremony or wedding party itself, and with neither Justin Gimelstob nor TMZ around, I don’t think we’re going to ever see photos of those moments. Privacy is the ultimate luxury when you’re a superstar!

Wow. They are simply stunning.
Yeah, not bad! I think Mirka really looks fantastic. And I like the photo of the rose petals flying.
It’s nice they got to have a traditional wedding without all the hubbub. But I’m glad they did release some photos after the fact!
Beautiful. *sniff*
Roger looks really happy, and Mirka is simply gorgeous. And what a classy dress/wedding/everything. I’m so happy for them you have no idea.
Hi Babz! Is that sniffing from your cold or from tears of happiness?
Glad you’re back in the world of the blogging!
It’s a sniffle of happiness, not from the cold, lol! I think they are quite perfect for each other, what a pair!
Nice finding! The wedding is lovely, isn’t it?
Hey HC! Yeah, it looks like a really classy do. The photo with the rose petals is my favorite! Roger looks ready to burst with happiness.
The groom is gorgeous, natch, but as it should be, the bride outdazzles him. Mirka is stunning, and I love that she wore a short dress.
I agree! Very impressed by the pregger’s Mirka glowy glow!
I agree with all the comments! Very classy and gorgeous bride and groom. And Mommafrites is right on, Mirka’s short dress is super cute!
Photos available in the UK in todays ‘Hello’ magdazine. Quick work!!!!
She does look beautiful and they look very happy. Wishing them a wonderful marriage.
Celebs looking for privacy do not contract with magazines to have a celeb photographer at the wedding taking pictures. They couldn’t contact TMZ or make the event known because they already signed a contract with the Swiss magazine.
Setting up photo ops on your wedding is not classy. Pretending you are doing it to raise money for charity is worse. If it was for charity, you do not settle for the going rate… or it was all the couple could get for their wedding pics.
Are they negotiating with various tabloid now for the first pic of the child or will they wait a week or two?
Tacky, tacky, tacky.
Hey Jolie,
I think in this day and age a global celeb has to decide: withhold the photos all together or create the photo ops and sell them to an outlet you trust. Otherwise, you have disappointed fans who can’t see photos. I guess he could have released the photos on his website, but why not do it in an organized way, to raise a little money?
From what I understand, the couple did not “negotiate” with various tabloids but used an established Swiss mag (like Life or Time) that they have had an ongoing relationship with. There was not a ‘bidding war.’
In some ways being a celebrity IS tacky – all that attention on one person! But I think Mirka and Roger do a fairly good job creating borders between personal and public life. Not an easy challenge.
Yes, i don’t feel like its neccessarily a bad thing. If anything someone was going to make alot of money on them regardless. Someone leaks the photos, and sells them to tabloids. Roger and Mirka might as well sell a few to quench the thirsty fan mob that we are and donate the proceeds to a good cause. A win win situation for everyone really. I feel that that is in decent taste really.
Jolie, the photographs were not taken at the wedding. And I don’t really see why it is tacky for Roger and Mirka to ask for a donation to Roger’s charity in exchange for wedding pictures. The Swiss public gets to see the pictures and the charity gets a donation. Sounds pretty good to me.
Great post, Liz! I agree, it is awesome that Roger and Mirka are donating the money to charity and what they do with the pictures is their business. I just had to shake my head at the foolishness of the above post.
It’s disgusting to see a pregnant bride in white.
*rolls eyes*
I think its lovely to see a a glowing bride in white or whatever color she chooses on her special day. And, she and her husband have even more reason to glow, they are about to be loving parents together! Go Federers!
This is now available in the UK in the Hello! magazine – on the cover, no less!
Second the eye roll, jfk!
If you follow those traditions, a white dress symbolizes a first marriage, not virginity. And I agree that a bride should be able to wear whatever makes her feel great!
i cant belive whats going on after the wedding roger federe promise us to get anew pain in atp world tennis but what im see that nadal still on the top of tennis why roger cant be the king i love him as no one player ,i wish to keep going for world after he get the new baby .shokria
