Andy Roddick and Brooklyn Decker were married Friday evening at a small ceremony at Roddick’s Austin home, followed by dinner at a local country club. Elton John performed and Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi were among the small group of guests.
But don’t worry Bar-B-Que fans, Austin’s Statesman newspaper reports that the couple is still planning to party at Stubb’s on Saturday, with music by The Spazmatics (“the Ultimate New Wave 80s Show.”)
Well done, Andy and Brooklyn!
Here’s the scoop from People:
Andy Roddick married his fiancée, Brooklyn Decker, in a twilight ceremony at his Austin, Texas, home on Friday, PEOPLE has confirmed.
The tennis pro, 26, and the swimsuit model, 21, exchanged vows in an intimate candlelit ceremony before a group of close friends and family.
“They are absolutely perfect for each other,” a family friend tells PEOPLE. “I think they knew that from the moment they met that they were perfect for each other.”
At the ceremony, bridesmaids wore strapless, chocolate-colored gowns, and the setting was decorated with bright, tropical flowers. Guests – including tennis greats Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi – were also treated to a musical performance by Roddick’s longtime friend, Sir Elton John.
The wedding was followed by dinner at Roddick’s local country club.
Roddick and Decker, who started dating in 2007, announced their engagement in March 2008. The pair first met after Roddick asked his agent to track down a number for Decker, who appeared in Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit edition.
And in case you aren’t on Mr. and Mrs. Roddick’s guest list on Saturday, here’s what you’re missing:

I haven’t run the math or checked the gossip sites, but I suspect that tennis players make for sturdy spouses. Yeah, Andre and JMac had those troubled first marriages, and Chrissie is a cougar, but I think that tennis player’s marriages hold up in slebdom.
Love the tropical flowers thing and the chocolate colored gowns.
And I wish Andy and Brooklyn all good things.
so roddick didnt participate on the monte carlo this year right ?
or did he lose on the early rounds ?
is it cuz his wedding or the charity games in latin america ?
He wasn’t in Monte Carlo. Decided not to play because of the wedding.
Andy has not played Monte Carlo since…..gosh I forgot when. By skipping nearly all warm up tournaments during the clay court season – he played one tournament in Rome prior to French Open last year and did well – definitely showed his lack of respect for tennis.
We see that top players like Djokovic and Murray can play on clay, and Roger has already proven he is the second best clay player the last few season. So I guess Andy is satisfied to be a second tier/class tennis player.
Since his season is shorter than most players (skipping April and early May), he should not complain that “tennis season is too long”. He kind of took away that right to moan.
Thanks, GoMaria, for the details on AR’s history (or lack thereof) on clay.
I was thinking about your comment this morning and wondering – is Andy Roddick being disrespectful or just realistic?
His game is so based on his serve – even if he played every warm up tournament to RG, would it really make a difference? It’s not like his movement is that great, and it’s hard to see him “hitting through” anyone with his ground strokes. So while disappointing to his fans, I can understand why he sees the clay court season as break time.
But I agree – we better not hear any bellyaching out of him, come August!
Wow.I can’t believe Agassi and Graf came! I wonder if Stefanki went? Sounds so awesome and fun. Anyways, Congratulations to the newlywed couple.
i think they make a cute couple and i wish them the best. i love the band!
