Yikes! Journalist Doug Robson reports that American Robby Ginepri is out of the Indian Wells and Miami tournaments after his appendix burst two weeks ago. Geesh, that’s really, really bad. Here’s the dish from Doug’s Sport Dish:
One conspicuous absence in the Coachella Valley (Indian Wells) for the American men is Robby Ginepri. Here’s why: About two weeks ago, the Georgia native’s appendix burst, according to his agent, Tom Ross. Ross said the 26-year-old had stomach pain and went to see the doctor but they didn’t diagnose it at first — not uncommon with appendicitis. He then returned home and it blew in the middle of the night. Ross said the 65th-ranked Ginepri spent eight days in the hospital and would miss Miami. He hopes to return in April.
Get well soon, Robby!

That is really, really bad. I worked with a guy whose appendix ruptured, and he almost died!It took him three months to get back to work — I hope Robby gets better sooner.
(I remember being in the emergency room with a girl who was majorly in pain. They took an Xray, and just as in Robby’s case, the first doc said all was well. I’m forever grateful to the other doc who gave it a second look, and almost yelled at him: “Look again! Right there! She needs an appendectomy STAT!” I’m forever grateful to that woman.)
Yeah, poor Robby! I bet he’s considering switching HMOs.
Yikes! That could have been extremely bad…as in, he could have died. I am wishing Robby a speedy recovery!
