Dear Fans
I arrived in Indian Wells earlier this week and I am eager to get back out on court. My back is feeling much better and I am ready to go.
I also have some really awesome news to share with all of you: Mirka and I are excited to let you know that we will be parents this summer! Mirka is pregnant and we are so happy to be starting a family together. This is a dream come true for us. We love children and we are looking forward to being parents for the first time. Mirka is feeling great and everything is going well.

Personally, I think they’ve timed the baby to arrive the day of the Wimbledon final! Or maybe the day before, so Baby Rorka can be watching in the stands

The site says she’s due in the summer – and public announcements such as this are usually made at least 4 months into the pregnancy so likely she’s due in July or August. So she won’t quite be ready to pop by Wimbledon, but who knows!?
I can see the tabloids now: “Mirka Delivers on Grass”

Ok, I’m an old, but not judgmental lady.The blessed couple can do whatever they want.
But why the heck don’t they get married? Swiss banking laws? A tricky Prenup? OTOH, Anthony Bourdain saw the light and married his Baby Mama three days before his wife gave birth.

I’ve read that it’s very common for young couples not to get married in Switzerland. I think that Roger and Mirka are pretty happy the way they are – and will do whatever suits them best. Roger’s never been anything but ridiculously gushy-in-love over Mirka, so it’s not like he needs to prove anything.
That said, there’s no doubt they’ll get married someday. Big wedding in the Maldives with lots of cheesy celebrities and Mirka in a ton of tulle. Maybe after the wedding.

On another note, I wonder how this will affect Roger’s game and schedule. It’s hard to imagine bringing a newborn along to the US Open, but on the other hand, it’s hard to imagine Roger playing without Mirka texting away in the stands!
Oh my gosh, Anna will SOOOO be pulling the strings. And the wedding WILL be in Vogue mag, maybe Mirka will even get her own spread (assuming Anna let’s a “plus” size body sully her pages.) Never mind, it will be a spread on Roger, with Anna substituting as the bride.
Liz, I had the same thought about this summer – I’m assuming Mirka is going to stop traveling at some point – she’s not actually going to deliver on the grass courts, is she? That must be why Roger is looking for a more full time coach than before – because Mirka might not be able to help him as much as she used to. We’ll see!
