Alright, I think this may finally be the end of the Shahar Peer/WTA/Dubai Tennis Championships mess.
Bottom line: Dubai’s paying up (as they always do.) Tournament organizers are paying Shahar Peer about $44,000, an average of what she earns per tournament, her doubles partner, Anna-Lena Groenefeld, is getting about $8,000 (her per-tournament average) and the WTA pockets the remaining $250,000 or so, which will be “donated to a charity or charities, to be determined by the Tour in consultation with Ms. Peer.”
Organizers will also post a $2 million dollar performance guarantee ensuring that nothing like this will ever happen again.
If all this happens, the Dubai tournament stays on the calendar until at least 2010.
So what do you think, folks? Do we all feel better now? Or does all this money just make it that much ickier? I guess it’s the old lemons to lemonade scenario. What else could the WTA going to do – move the tournament to Sweden?

HAHAH! I love the pic you chose for the post! LOL!
Good for WTA and for Shahar! The WTA actually somewhat redeemed themselves, albeit a little late though. Shahar looks sooo happy.
