Things are looking up! Roger Federer has reappeared on his website with a note of thanks to all the fans who clogged his server leaving love notes after the self-destruction Down Under.
He speaks:
Dear Fans
I would like to thank you for the overwhelming amount of messages and letters you sent me this past week. Losing the Australian Open final certainly hurt, but it is important to move on and focus on the challenges lying ahead. I feel fine and fit and am eager to get back on court. I have enjoyed a few days off, which was great, and will soon be training again.
Thank you once again for supporting me and giving me such a lot of positive input! A lot of you have noticed that my website was slow after the final Down Under. The reason for that was the enormous amount of traffic – more than we had ever experienced before. New hardware for the server has been ordered and will be installed as soon as possible so that you can enjoy rogerfederer.com without hassles in the future!
Kind regards
Roger
Wait, this means that:
- There are more Fedophiles than I thought out there, AND/OR
- Leaving a comment on Roger’s website actually isn’t deviant behavior. (Okay, I admit that I tried leaving a message last Sunday, but couldn’t remember my login in my depressed state of mind – was is Rogerrules, RogRULZZ or FED4EVR??? I gave up.)
I wish Roger would use this opportunity to update that sorry website of his. Have you seen what Rafa’s been doing, Rog? He’s kicking your butt on that front, too.
Sorry, fellow Fed fans, I tend to be a tough love kinda gal. (But not a deviant, I swear!)

Hi! I like your new site (even with Rafa at the top instead of Roger). Roger’s site may not be perfect, but at least he doesn’t have a Nike swoosh on the masthead!
Hi Liz!
Thanks for posting. Yeah, you’re right, Roger’s site is refreshingly “un-corporate” and Rafa’s is a bit of a Nike showpiece. But. . .
I think that Roger’s site isn’t really very fan friendly unless you just want to post comments in the forums. I’d like to see some more interactive elements – more Q.&A. opportunities, more videos and photos (in a more modernized format), more of a feeling that there’s someone really involved. Roger hardly ever posts his own comments and the posts tend to be dry.
I agree that Roger’s website has a lot of room for improvement! I guess I don’t visit the players’ websites very much — I prefer sites where people talk about tennis as a whole, and are not focused on one player. But if the players’ sites were more as you described, they would be much more fun. I would love to see more video of classic points or even matches — the quality on Youtube is mostly pretty poor — sometimes you can’t even see the ball.
Yeah, most player’s sites are pretty poor. Rafa’s is one of the best, if not the best. Andy Roddick’s is good. Maria’s is okay but starting to look a little dated. Serena’s is bad! I guess these players have other things to worry about. One of these days I’ll try to do a player website review. . .
