Rafa credited his experience in the Olympic Village with inspiring him to gold medal victory, and now Novak Djokovic seems to have gleaned his own (off-court) benefit – a fast-moving romance with the “most beautiful” female athlete in the village. Here are the “facts,” my friends:
The lovely lady is named Leryn Franco, a 26-year-old javelin thrower from Paraguay.

This is her second Olympics, having finished 42nd in Athens in 2004.
In 2006, she finished the runner-up in the Miss Paraguay competition and the Miss Bikini Universe pageant.
It makes sense that she funds her javelin throwing with her modeling earnings and not the other way around.
She attended all of Novak’s matches (javelin started after tennis competition) and sat with the Serbian delegation during some of them.
According to an Argentine journalist who was in the village, the pair was seen holding hands and acting lovey dovey.
Leryn was treated by Novak’s physical trainer in preparation for her event.
Both players left Beijing in tears – Novak sobbing after his loss to Nadal, and Leryn reportedly offering a tearful apology to the Paraguayan people for finishing 51st in the qualification round – not good enough to progress to the finals.

Nole gets around – I’ve heard he’s dated Sharapova, Jankovic, that girlfriend you’re talking about (who was that, anyway?) and now Ms. Franco.
The one thing I like about Nole’s choices – they all seem to be strong, take-no-prisoners types.
This is so un PC but I can’t help thinking of Nole saying to Roddick: “I’ll take your Brooklyn Decker and raise you a Javelin thrower!” Perhaps Brooklyn has secret dreams of discus gold?
